The 2026 track and field season has officially started for the Triton Cobras. The athletes began with an indoor meet at Minnesota State University, Mankato on March 21. The boys' varsity track team took first place, while the girls' varsity team placed fourth.

Averee Henslin, a state participant, was interviewed about how she feels the season is going so far. She replied, “Good. It’s been fun watching teammates compete, and there are lots of new people.” She was also asked how track helps her grow as a person. She said, “It’s made me more social by encouraging me to talk with people I normally wouldn’t.” Her favorite part about track is competing, improving, and seeing her times drop. Henslin is looking forward to competing in sections and possibly the state meet.

Abrielle Emanuel was also interviewed about trying new events in track and field. She said, “I started pole vaulting this year. It’s been really fun and has taught me to get over my fear of failing.”

With temperatures rising and the snow leaving the ground, it is shaping up to be an exciting season for the Cobras. The Triton track and field team is looking forward to a successful season.
