This year the Dodge Center Lion’s Club picked Beth Hanggi as the Citizen of the Year. Beth is a Dodge Center native, growing up here with her brother and sister. She started a furniture refinishing business in 1988 after graduating from college. She also worked at the Eden Prairie community center aquatic department. In 1990 she accepted her father’s offer to join him in the family insurance business.

Fahning and Associates offers insurance plans for life, health, long term care, Medicare supplements and Medicare advantage plans, employee benefits, annuities and IRAs. They have served the area for over fifty years.

Beth met her husband Ralph while he was an art teacher at Claremont Public School District and later at the Triton School District after the schools combined. Ralph later took a position with the Grand Rapids School and they moved to Bowstring Lake near Deer River Minnesota. Beth commutes to the Dodge Center office each week and Ralph has retired and does abstract painting in his studio on the lake.

Beth was nominated for the honor due to her activity in the community. She is very involved in the United Methodist Church in Dodge Center, is on the Dodger Days Committee and current Chamber of Commerce president. Beth believes the strong points of Dodge Center include the citizens here who are warm, welcoming and supportive to each other. The community is progressive with a lot of industry for a small town and many businesses which employ over fifty employees each. The city has lots to do with a beautiful park system and plenty of amenities to entertain people and clubs to promote the city. It is an attractive town with well kept neighborhoods. It is fortunate to be in a good location with two major state highways intersecting here and a close drive to numerous larger cities.
