Gale Franklin Kos, 90, of Claremont, MN passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026.

Gale was born March 23, 1936, in Austin, MN, to Frank and Dorothy (Prusha) Kos. Gale was baptized February 13, 1938, at First Methodist Church of Austin, MN.

On September 24, 1955, Gale married his best friend Shirlee June Borwege. They were married at Associated Church, Owatonna, MN, and they were married for 55 years. Shirlee passed away in 2010.

Gale and Shirlee started farming in 1958 and milking a small herd of Ayrshire cows. They enjoyed traveling and spent many years in South Padre, TX. Gale was an avid fisherman and shared the fish he caught by having an annual fish fry after he returned from Texas.

Gale is survived by his children Karla (and Lenny) Schmoll of West Concord, MN, Bambi (and Phil) Schweppe of Rapid City, SD, and Joe (and Lori) Kos of Claremont, MN; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild with one on the way.

He is also survived by sisters Gladys Rassman, Owatonna, Judy Derrickson, Monroe, WI, Betty Hoover, Dundas, MN; brothers Daryl (Donna) Kos, Cambridge, MO, and Gary (Judy) Kos Rochester, MN, brother-in-law Robert (and LaDonna) Borwege of Owatonna; and many nieces and nephews.

Gale was preceded in death by his wife Shirlee, sister Patty Olson, brother Delano, sister, Alice Marie, son-in-law Jack Schweppe and grandson Aric Schweppe.

A graveside service will be held at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Havana Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 2:00PM.
