Josie July, owner of J July Creations in West Concord, loves a creative challenge. From customized coasters to unique hoodies, wind spinners to keychains, July loves discovering new ideas and making them a reality. July says, “Nothing beats the joy when an idea comes to life.” Since 2024, July has been selling her creative goods. July says her journey with crafting began at an early age. She explains, “I have loved creating things since I was little. When I was really young, I would watch my grandma crochet.” Learning from her grandmother sparked July's passion for exploring the creative world and learning new techniques. Her creative spark continued to evolve as she participated in FACS classes through middle and high school. When July headed off to college, she says, “I paused on crafting, [and] focused on college. Except the pause didn’t last too long.” She began crocheting in college, making gifts for her roommates and family. Her love for creativity continued to flourish. This drive eventually motivated July to start her own business.
From a young age, July knew she wanted to start her own business. July explains, “I come from a line of small business owners. When I was growing up, I would ask why they wanted to own their own business. Each one told me they loved what they did so much that they made it into their own job.” Having small business owners in her family inspired July to create her own business and express her creativity. July says she also enjoys the opportunity “to help people’s ideas come to life.” She says, “I love being able to customize items to fit the needs of my customers. Being able to make something that you don’t see walking into a box store always brings me joy.” July loves serving her customers by making items that fit their needs.
