CLAREMONT — The engines were humming and spirits were high on Saturday, September 27, as residents gathered for this year’s Claremont Crawl, a lighthearted community event that mixed friendly competition, hometown pride, and a healthy dose of laughter.
The Crawl kicked off at The Claremont Pub at 2 p.m., where participants met up before taking to the streets on golf carts, side-by-sides, Razors, and electric scooters. From there, the group visited a series of homes around town — each stop offering a unique snack and drink to keep the afternoon rolling.
“It’s one of those events that just brings everyone together,” said organizer Elaine King-Carlson, who helped coordinate this year’s route. “Every house puts its own spin on things, whether it’s a themed cocktail or something off the grill. It’s all about having fun and supporting our neighbors.”
Along the way, participants had the chance to purchase sealed envelopes containing playing cards — a playful twist that added some friendly suspense to the ride. When the group returned to the Pub that evening, everyone opened their envelopes to reveal their hands, with prizes awarded for the best poker combinations.
The event drew dozens of locals and visitors alike, all traveling safely in a cheerful caravan around town. “You can’t help but smile when you see a line of golf carts decked out with lights and music,” said Tina Klemmensen, a first-time participant. “It’s like a parade, but we get snacks!”
By the time the Crawl circled back to the Pub for the final gathering, the laughter and storytelling showed that the day had been a success. As one participant put it, “It’s not about who wins the hand — it’s about the ride, the people, and the good times we share in Claremont.”
