We live in a world where we want everything in a hurry. I've seen folks stand in front of a microwave and complain that it takes a full minute to heat up a cup of coffee! Can you relate? We like drive-thru convenience, all things disposable, and cell phone availability. And never have so many complained of having so little time to enjoy life. Through the years I’ve also observed that more and more people are sacrificing enduring truth for quick fixes. May we never sacrifice quality for convenience!

In times like these, we need to make sure that we are building our lives on things which are stable, eternal, and will never change. As a minister of the Gospel, I would like to suggest to you that you build your life on God and His Word. I am happy to briefly share with you 2 things of why I love God’s Word and why I am building my life on it, and you should also:

1) I Love The Bible And I Am Building My Life On It Because God Himself Is The Author Of It (God himself breathed it).

In 2nd Timothy we are told that “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God”. Since God is the author of it, the Bible is free from error, contradictions, or flaws. And because God is perfect, anything He does and says is perfect. Therefore, the Bible is and should be the final authority in all matters.

As many of you know, I was born and raised in a communist country in Eastern Europe. I lived there until the age of 15, when my parents and I moved to Chicago. While we lived in Romania as Christians, we did not have access to Bibles like people do here, where you can go to a Christian book store or order online as many Bibles as you want. During my childhood, I remember how Bibles were being smuggled in Romania. I will never forget the day when I received my first Bible from grandpa. It was a birthday gift and the best one ever. Folks, let’s take a moment today and thank the Lord for His Holy Word!

2). I Love The Bible And I Am Building My Life On It Because It Has Transformed My Life.

No other book on the face of this earth will be able to transform our lives the way this book does. How has it transformed my life? It has transformed my life in the way that once I was “dead” in sin, and now I am “alive” in Christ Jesus.

Dear friends, since the time is short and the days are evil, God is calling us to make the best use of our time by redeeming our time and investing it in the things that will last forever. God’s desire is that His Word will have a preeminent place in our lives. Let’s purpose in our hearts to read, study, stand on, proclaim, and live out His Word, for the Glory of God!

I would like to close with a verse from a song that is very dear to my heart -

In times like these you need the Bible, in times like these, oh be not idle; Be very sure, be very sure, your anchor holds and grips the solid Rock! This Rock is Jesus, Yes, He’s the one, this Rock is Jesus, the only One; Be very sure, be very sure, your anchor holds and grips the solid Rock!
