Matthew 3:16
And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him.
What if
I had walked one more step? I'll have to explain what I'm talking about.
Back in 1953, we moved from Dodge Center to a farm south of Spring Valley. On the north part of this farm was a great woods and the Root River running through it. If I wasn't helping my dad with chores, I was in the woods hunting. Dad always said to be careful of the rattlesnakes in the woods. There were known to be rattlesnakes in Southeastern Minnesota in those days.
On this certain day, my younger cousin and I were going hunting. We were on the north edge of the woods next to the riverbank when all of a sudden, I remembered about the snakes. I stopped to tell my cousin to be careful. While I was telling him this, I looked down, and about one step ahead of me, the grass was moving,- And then I heard a rattle.
If you ever heard a rattlesnake, you will know without a doubt that I must have jumped three feet straight in the air. I landed in the river, and I remember running as fast as I could across the river.
Do you see where this story is going? If I had taken one more step, I would of stepped on the snake. So, since 1953, from time to time, I wonder about why I stopped at that certain time.
You know what I am thinking... I feel God was looking over me. Some of you might think it was a coincidence, but I don't believe in that word. I believe God is looking over us much more than we think. I hope some of you get back to me about my story.
God bless you and keep hugging those kids.
