I love taking time out for myself to get spoiled by someone else. I have been a massage therapist for over 35 years now, and understand the importance of self care. Finding a professional who has the knowledge, dedication, and nurturing qualities in the alternative modalities I enjoy is not an easy task! Therefore, I am on a mission to find a list of practitioners that I can go to whom I know are certified in the profession they have chosen. Today, I was lucky to find a space in Kasson that has 4 different ladies doing an array of things I enjoy, and I am going to share this information with you, my readers!
The Main Alternative in Kasson is located on the corner of Main Street as you come into town from Highway 14, at 13 West Main Street Suite #5. Here you will find some ladies that really know their stuff!
Stevie Gransee and Amanda Marsden Hulm and Lynn Fricker are massage therapists with different techniques.
Stevie does massage, and is the only person I have seen who does a technique called Ashiatsu massage...with her feet! She has been a massage therapist for 20 years. She started working for a chiropractor in Rochester and taught massage therapy for 8 years. Stevie also specializes in massage cupping techniques, drop tissue/ trigger point therapy work, hot stone massage, Thai massage, and kinesiotaping. She started her business, You Knead Therapy, 15 years ago and started The Main Alternative with Amanda 6 years ago. She is currently unable to take on any new clients as her books are full, but she highly recommends Amanda and Lynn.
Amanda does deep tissue, Swedish massage, cupping & prenatal. She moved here from Sioux Falls, South Dakota in June 2018, where she completed her massage school in 2007. She's approaching 19 years in her trade. She and Stevie co-founded The Main Alternative in June of 2020.
Over her time in this industry she's worked with clients suffering from MS, Migraines, Sciatica, Fibromyalgia, Anxiety & Depression, Cancer, Arthritis, Pain (including muscle tension and neck, back, and shoulder pain), and repetitive stress injuries. She absolutely LOVES what she does. "There is nothing more rewarding than helping people in pain improve their quality of life."
The name of her business is Melt Away Massage. You can look up more about her at melt-away-massage-mn.square.site/, email her at amandam.lmt@gmail.com, or call her at (507)405-0977. Other modalities she uses are hot stone therapy and essential oils.
Lynn is also a massage therapist who's been a trusted and dependable Massage Therapist in SE Minnesota since 2011. She joined The Main Alternative April of 2024. She loves helping her clients with muscle tension issues such as leg muscle tension from running, tendonitis, tension headaches and migraines. She enjoys helping women with the changes their bodies go through with prenatal (pregnancy) and postnatal Massage. She uses an integrated approach to Massage Therapy, as she doesn't see it as one size fits all. Her style is a combination of Swedish Massage, Esalen Massage, Trigger Point Release, Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, Myofascial Cupping, Craniosacral, and anything else she's learned over the years that she thinks would be useful for the problem at hand. Every body reacts differently to various pressures, Massage Therapists, and techniques, and she hopes to be the last stop on your Massage Therapist shopping journey. Previously she's worked at Massage Envy and Lilac/Sage Wellness Center, both in Rochester, and also has been a featured Massage Therapist at the Women and Spirituality Conference at the Mayo Civic Center in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Her business name is Forget Your Troubles Bodywork. You can reach her at (507)202-5679.
Jane Kelley is a licensed Acupuncturist who believes in complete wellness in body, mind & spirit. Her interest in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine began 20 years ago with her own search for increased health and relief from chronic pain. After 3 years of traditional medical treatment with no pain relief, she began to seek alternative therapies, eventually finding acupuncture to be very effective in decreasing pain while increasing function and mobility. After 35 years of working in the allied health care field at Mayo Clinic, she went back to school to learn acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Jane is devoted to the success and well-being of her patients while providing safe, effective, and compassionate care. Her philosophy involves treating you to the best of her ability. If she cannot help you within a series of treatments, she's happy to refer you to someone she feels might take a different approach or have a varying skill set than what she offers. She also likes to stress that she's not just an acupuncturist. She practices Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with acupuncture being only one component. Other areas of TCM that she includes in her practice are: cupping, acupressure, Tui Na (Chinese massage), herbal therapy, Qigong, meditation and TCM food therapy.
