Elder Network is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit that was formed in 1988. We have been serving Dodge County since 2022, and are working to provide the community with supportive services and information for older adults and caregivers. As the weather continues to get warmer, we want to bring awareness on staying safe on hot days. According to the CDC, older adults are more susceptible to heat-related health problems. To stay safe on hot days, the CDC suggests staying in air-conditioned buildings as much as possible, drinking more water than usual, wearing loose, lightweight, and light-colored clothing, taking cool showers or baths to cool down, not engaging in extreme strenuous activities, and more. Make sure that you are staying informed with the local news for health and safety updates and seek medical care when necessary. Our Dodge County staff member, Pa Cha Vang, is also available to contact for caregiver support, educational opportunities, and referrals. Feel free to contact Pa Cha at 507-577-1434 or pachav@elder-network.org.”
