Technology is a major part of classrooms today, and I see how it continues to change the way students learn and teachers teach. To better understand its impact, I interviewed teacher Samuel Storlie and student Samuel Price about their experiences with technology, especially AI, in the classroom.
When I asked how AI has changed learning, Mr. Storlie explained that he tries to use it thoughtfully. He designs assignments in a way that makes it easier to tell if students are relying on AI when they shouldn’t be. His goal is to make sure students are actually learning, not just using shortcuts. On the other hand, Samuel Price said he thinks AI makes information more accessible and helps students complete work more efficiently.
Both interviewees agreed that technology has important benefits. Mr. Storlie pointed out that it reduces the need for paper and allows him to quickly adjust lessons when needed. He also said technology gives him more flexibility and helps his class run smoothly. Samuel Price added that technology makes schoolwork easier overall, especially when it comes to completing assignments and accessing resources quickly.
When I asked whether AI makes learning easier or harder, Mr. Storlie said it depends on how it is used. He believes AI can be helpful for finding information faster, but overusing it can limit critical thinking. He has noticed that some students rely on it too much instead of thinking for themselves. In contrast, Samuel Price believes the benefits outweigh the negatives and that AI generally makes learning easier.
Both Mr. Storlie and Samuel Price agreed that schools are using about the right amount of technology. Mr. Storlie explained that technology is an essential part of today’s world, so students need to be familiar with it. Samuel Price agreed but said schools could provide even more opportunities to use technology in ways that prepare students for the future.
Overall, I found that technology has a strong impact on education. While it offers flexibility and efficiency, it also comes with challenges like overreliance on AI. Finding the right balance is key to helping students succeed.
