They have returned. The harbingers of spring have been spotted. In other words the geese are back. As I am sure that I have mentioned in the past, geese and I do not get along.
Mostly because since I was a young child they have taken great delight in chasing me; well into adulthood. When I was in my late teens and was attending community college over in Rochester there were geese that always hung around on campus. Those geese chased me just about every day for two years.
My mother thought I was exaggerating until one day she came in to the school when coming to get me. We were sharing a car at the time and while walking to the car I saw the geese coming and I asked her for the keys. Which she gave me right before I took off running with honking geese on my heels.
After that she believed me that geese had been chasing me about campus. Before anyone says ‘well they wouldn’t have chased you if you didn’t run from them’. I did try that and you know what happened they swarmed me and hissed. Have you ever been bitten by a goose? Because I have and it hurts more than you would think.
With that being said as much as I dislike geese and will go out of my way to not go anywhere near them. I have learned one very important thing about them that adds a point in their favor. When they return in the spring it usually is a good sign that winter is over and it probably won’t snow again until at least Halloween.
