Triton Activities Monthly Update

Posted

Dear Triton Students, Parents, Staff, and Community Members,

It's an exciting time of the year as we are about to start fall activities here at Triton. This fall, we are offering boys' soccer (in a co-op with KM), cheer, cross country, fall play, football, and volleyball.

It has been extremely rewarding to see all the hard work our student-athletes and coaches have put in this summer to improve themselves for the school year. Our student-athletes were involved in the OMC summer strength and conditioning program, with over 120 students in grades 5-12 taking advantage of this opportunity on a typical day. Many of our programs also ran skills and drills practices throughout the summer.

Teams also hit the road to find opportunities to improve skills, schemes, and techniques. Our boys' and girls' basketball teams went to the Wisconsin Dells in July to compete against schools from all over the Upper Midwest while also getting time to bond as a team at the waterpark. In July, the wrestling program went to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln to learn skills and techniques from some of the best wrestlers in the country. Our volleyball program had an overnight team camp at Northwestern University in St. Paul, while the football team headed to Marshall to take part in the SMSU team camp.

Practices will begin on Monday, August 11th, for all of our fall athletic programs. The first competitions will come up quickly: the boys' soccer team heads to Faribault on August 21st, and volleyball travels to Pine Island to take on the Panthers on August 21st. The football and cheer teams, and the cross country team, will start their competitions on August 28th. The football team will play host to Goodhue, while the cross country team heads to Stewartville for a meet.

As your Activities Director, I am extremely excited to see the hard work our student-athletes have put in this summer pay off this school year. We hope to see many of you in the stands supporting the Cobras this fall and, of course, cheering loud!
