EMERGENCY CITY COUNCIL MEETING

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2024

6:30 P.M.

An emergency meeting of the City Council of the City of Claremont, Minnesota was held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at Claremont City Hall.

Members present: Mayor Tasha Dahl, City Council Members Jacob Klejeski, Deb Ellis, and Krystal Sultze. Members absent: None. There is 1 vacant city council seat. City staff and others present: Administrator Elizabeth Sorg, Fire Chief Casey Dahl, and Avery Dahl.

For a while now, the fire department has been looking at pumper trucks to upgrade their 1990 Spartan. They have found a 2003 pumper truck that is listed on an online auction starting at $30,000. Bidding ends Friday morning. They have funds in their savings account to pay for it and also have talked to the townships about it, which the townships support getting a newer truck. If they get this truck, the 1990 truck will be sold and the money put back into the savings account. Two members of the fire department went to Elko and looked at the vehicle and talked to the city that owned it. If it doesn’t sell at the auction, Elko will give the fire department first chance at it. At the fire department meeting later tonight, members will vote on whether they want to bid on it or not. Motion by Sultze to approve the purchase of the 2003 pumper up to $40,000 plus the auction fees and the money will come out of their savings account, second by Ellis. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Ellis to adjourn the meeting at 6:38 p.m., second by Sultze. Motion carried unanimously.
